| The Wadhwani
Electronics Laboratory (WEL) at IITB was largely funded
and established by Dr. Romesh Wadhwani in 2001 with additional
funds provided to upgrade and run the laboratory in 2003.
WEL was setup for teaching and project work in IIT-Bombay’s
Electrical Engineering department. The Laboratory houses
all the major electronics hardware activities of the Department
of Electrical Engineering and conducts twelve major laboratory
courses every year for students of Electrical Engineering
as well as other branches. Approximately 800 students use
the Laboratory every year.
IIT Bombay, set up by an Act of Parliament,
was established in 1958. Over the years, the institute has
made tremendous strides in the area of academic and research
activities, and has become recognized as one of the centers
of academic excellence in the world.
