Started
in 1982, Spastics Society of Karnataka is dedicated to the
welfare of persons with neuromuscular disorders and developmental
disabilities. Its special focus is to create societal awareness
and conduct research on rehabilitation of the disabled,
to provide medical rehabilitation and to provide educational
and vocational development facilities for disabled people.
The Wadhwani Foundation’s grant will help establish
a polytechnic, the Inclusive Vocational Training Centre,
to deliver job-oriented post-school education. The Center
will promote socio-economic rehabilitation of disabled individuals
with relevant education, health and skill training and income
generation. To ensure gainful employment and integration,
placement and post-placement support services will also
be provided.
