Research Foundation is a charitable society that gives affordable,
expert, state-of-the-art care to ophthalmically challenged
patients of any caste, creed or income. It also emphasizes
ophthalmic research, teaching and training.
The Wadhwani Foundation’s grant will fund a Community
Opthalmic Eye Care project that works towards preventing
blindness in India, providing quality eye care to the deserving
poor in rural areas. With this funding, Shankara Nethralaya,
the patient wing of Medical Research Foundation, will conduct
200 free cataract surgeries with intra-locular lens implantation
on poor patients during the year 2003-04.
