| The Association
of People with Disability (APD) was started in 1959, by
a group of people with disabilities, as a center for vocational
rehabilitation for persons with locomotor disabilities.
The focus has been to educate, train and mainstream disabled
person, so as to instill confidence and enable them to recognize
their potential for self-reliance. APD also aims to create
societal awareness, to promote acceptance and integration
of people with disabilities. Today, APD touches the lives
of about 1500 people through its various programs.
The APD project funded by the Wadhwani
Foundation proposes to capitalize on the growing demand
for services of trained personnel in horticulture. It will
double the size of APD’s Horticulture Training Program.
